Emitters (Cathodes, Filaments): PRODUCT GUIDE
|

LaB6 cathode
on a standard ceramic AEI base |
|
Kimball Physics
emitters provide a reliable source of electrons
or ions for use in
a variety of instruments including scanning electron microscopes (SEM)
, transmission electron microscopes (TEM), probes, electron
lithography systems, free electron lasers, as well as Kimball
Physics electron and ion guns.
Many cathodes are
resistively-heated, thermionic electron sources. Kimball Physics
offers refractory metal, oxide, and single crystal cathodes:
Tantalum (Ta)
disc cathodes, tungsten (W) filaments,
barium oxide (BaO) coated
discs, yttria (Y2O3) coated
iridium filaments and cathodes, and high-brightness single-crystal
lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6).
Cathodes are available
mounted on a standard AEI base, or the more compact Kimball
Physics (CB-104) base, or on a variety of bases
for electron microscopes. Cathodes may also be mounted on customer-supplied
bases. Most bases are high tolerance ceramic: pins are
usually kovar, but may also be available in molybdenum (for
field-free regions).
Firing units containing the appropriate cathode
or ion source are
available for all mounted Kimball Physics units (when ordering, specify
by electron or ion gun model and any special options, such as high current or small
spot).
For part numbers and
prices see the Emitters
Part Number Tables.
For additional
technical information on LaB6
and other cathodes, see Technical
Notes.
It is not necessarily possible to achieve all maximum
specifications simultaneously. Specifications subject to
change without notice. |
